I already posted about the delicious duck lunch we had: http://bit.ly/2bXSX9y, so let me tell you about Namdaemun. It means (literally) ‘South Great Gate’ and up until 2008 was the oldest wooden structure in Korea. Some jerk torched it so they had to rebuild it. Anyway, it was one of 8 gates of the fortress wall of Seoul. You can actually visit parts of that wall still. There are guards in Joseon-era clothing around the gate. You can take pictures with them if that’s your thing. At night, floodlights illuminate the structure from below making a pretty scene for who pass by. #visit_korea #μ„œμ„μ‹œ #travel #μ—¬ν–‰μŠ€νƒ€κ·Έλž¨ #ν•œκ΅μ—¬ν–‰ #travelasia #wanderlust #asseeninkorea #seoul #μ„œμšΈ #ν•œκ΅ #namdaemun #λ‚¨λŒ€λ¬Έ

In Myeong-dong we can across this shop. Have I already whined how much it stresses me you csn get straight coffee in Korea? This was the start of The Great Two Week Americano Compromise. Ugh. This was also when my kid realized smoothies in Korea are so much more better than what we have in the US. So she wanted me to announce that this place has top notch smoothies. #visit_korea #μ„œμ„μ‹œ #travel #μ—¬ν–‰μŠ€νƒ€κ·Έλž¨ #ν•œκ΅μ—¬ν–‰ #travelasia #myeongdong #λͺ…동 #seoul #μ„œμšΈ #ν•œκ΅ #mmthcoffee

After a quick breakfast, we quickly checked out of our hotel, then spent our 2nd morning in Seoul at Namdaemun Market. Namdaemun Market dates back to the 15th century & is one of the oldest markets in South Korea. I think we could have spent half a day here and still missed so much. It’s unfortunate we had already eaten. There were so many stands, stalls, and restaurants emitting yummy smells. #namdaemunmarket #λ‚¨λŒ€λ¬Έ #visit_korea #μ„œμ„μ‹œ #travel #μ—¬ν–‰μŠ€νƒ€κ·Έλž¨ #ν•œκ΅μ—¬ν–‰ #travelasia #wanderlust #asseeninkorea #seoul #μ„œμšΈ #ν•œκ΅

After dinner we caught a cab to Banpo Bridge to catch the water show. I already posted about that, but here are some other pictures from that night. The park is such a great place to hang out, but it was really hard getting a taxi back. Last night we watched I Live Alone and saw that CJamm & his friends shot their Chuseok episode there. That made my kid want to go back. We’ve seen these buildings & park in so many variety shows and dramas that it felt familiar. #visit_korea #μ„œμ„μ‹œ #travel #μ—¬ν–‰μŠ€νƒ€κ·Έλž¨ #ν•œκ΅μ—¬ν–‰ #travelasia #BanpoPark #wanderlust #asseeninkorea #seoul #μ„œμšΈ #ν•œκ΅ #ν•œκ°• #hanriverpark

Our 1st night in Seoul & I let the kid choose the menu. She wanted KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) & this place was catty corner to out hotel. I got a beer because chimek (chicken+mekju) is where it’s at. The waiter brought 2 glasses & that was the start of a daily ritual explaining she’s only 13. Everyone was shocked at her age because of her height. ⁉ ⁉⁉ Anyway, service & food was good. The waiter seemed stressed because they sent him out to speak English. He visibly calmed when I ordered in Korean. That was also the first time my kid saw a group of ajusshis & she was fascinated by them in their outdoor gear. #visit_korea #μ„œμ„μ‹œ #travel #μ—¬ν–‰μŠ€νƒ€κ·Έλž¨ #ν•œκ΅μ—¬ν–‰ #travelasia #myeongdong #λͺ…동 #λ¨ΉμŠ€νƒ€κ·Έλž¨ #seoul #μ„œμšΈ #ν•œκ΅ #foodstagram #latergram
